The board is empowered by State Statutes to hear appeals and make adjustments to assessments levied by the Town Assessor.
The Board of Assessment Appeals meets to hear appeals in March for Real Estate and Personal Property and September for Motor Vehicle annually per CGS 12-111 (PDF).
The March appeals are scheduled after appeals are filed on or before February 20th per CGS 12-112 (PDF). All appeals must be filed on a prescribed form available in the Assessor’s Office or the links below. They must be returned in person or by mail with a postmark on or before the February 20th date.
All complainants must appear in person or send a duly authorized representative to the scheduled appeals appointment per CGS 12-113 (PDF).

Agendas are available prior to the meetings. Minutes are available following approval. All current and previous agendas and meeting minutes are first filed in the Town Clerk’s office per CGS 1-225 (PDF)(a), (b) and (c).
